The South Korean brand KIA has launched an updated version of its compact crossover, the Sportage. The new model is available both with an internal combustion engine and as a hybrid.
The sixth generation Kia Sportage features a refreshed front design. The headlights are now positioned vertically, and a wide grille is placed between them. The front bumper and wheel rims have also been updated.
More notable changes can be seen in the engine lineup. Buyers can now choose from the following options:
- A 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an output of 180 hp.
- A 2.0-liter engine running on liquefied gas, producing 146 hp.
- A hybrid version with a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an electric motor providing 64 hp.
Paired with the gasoline engine is now an 8-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the previous robotic gearbox. Buyers can select between front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions of the vehicle.
The interior features a two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel and a pair of 12.3-inch displays used for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Other updates include redesigned central air vent deflectors, improved sound insulation, and new shock absorbers.
The new KIA Sportage will first be available for sale in South Korea, priced from $20,600 to $35,300. The vehicle will later appear in other markets.
