Obtaining free gaming hardware, especially something as expensive as an RTX 3060 graphics card, is quite rare. However, a user named LudM shared on the PCMR subreddit that he received a Chinese RTX 3060 for free from the Temu platform. He is now waiting for the other components for his PC to be delivered so he can assemble the system and verify whether it is a genuine RTX 3060 or a counterfeit.

Chinese online e-commerce platforms are often associated with the sale of fake graphics cards marketed as RTX 30 or RTX 40 series models at "unbelievably low" prices. Typically, these "cheap" cards turn out to be fakes—actually older models such as the GTX 650 Ti or GTX 680. Nonetheless, there are instances where the product matches its advertised specifications.

LudM posted a photo of the received RTX 3060, which may indicate that the card is genuine (or at least appears to be genuine). One Reddit user noted that the card's components closely resemble those of the Palit RTX 3060 Dual OC. The graphics card features an 8-pin power connector, three DisplayPort outputs, and one HDMI output—all aligning with the specifications of the Palit model. Fake cards with older generation chips (like GTX 600 or GTX 700) usually come equipped with DVI or VGA connectors.

Some commenters speculated that the received RTX 3060 could be a mobile version of the graphics card. This is also possible, as desktop graphics cards are sometimes fitted with mobile Nvidia GPUs such as the RTX 3060 Mobile. However, several users warned that the card might contain malware in its firmware that could infect the computer once the system is built. This is a genuine concern, considering that the graphics card was sent for free.

According to LudM, he received the RTX 3060 after participating in a giveaway promoted by Temu. Over several months, he was bombarded by Temu advertisements offering "expensive items at ridiculous prices or even for free." After verifying, LudM assured himself that these promotions were legitimate and decided to enter the giveaway, where he won the aforementioned RTX 3060.
