Sometimes, to win a battle, it’s enough to show some grit. A gamer asked the French telecom mogul, the owner of the lifecell operator, to "step outside" — but he didn't take it seriously.
The "invitation" on X Twitter looked like this:
Je t'attends https://t.co/jdCOL0j5ncpic.twitter.com/2SHPHSVIPf
— Xavier Niel (@Xavier75) November 15, 2024
“Xavier Niel, I hate you, I suggest [a meet-up] one-on-one in front of [the store] Lidl on Rue Sainte in Marseille.”
To everyone's surprise, Xavier Niel showed up. He posted a photo of himself outside the store with the caption "I'm waiting." After this, the internet daredevil understandably got scared: "Sorry, I was joking." But this response did not satisfy Niel. The furious businessman recorded a short video near the store.
j'aurais aimer mais 34.2 de température + mal au ventre + mal a la tête dsl j'abandonne
— Fuego 7️⃣🇲🇦 (@JimmyBLLT) November 15, 2024
“I’m here! I’m waiting for you! … Where are you?! Come on! Want to meet me in the parking lot?!”
This response provoked an even more pathetic reaction from the CoD player:
“I would love to, but I have a temperature of 34.2 [!] + stomach ache + headache — I give up.”
The situation needs clarification.
The player mentioned that he was “behind” in Call of Duty and had “lost his composure,” but did not mean “anything serious.” Both parties do not go into much detail regarding the circumstances of the conflict, so let’s try to understand. Besides the Ukrainian lifecell, Xavier Niel's company, Iliad, owns the French operator Free Mobile and the internet provider Free. It is likely that network lagging angered the gamer.
The Lidl store also joined in, posting a humorous message.
Faut venir récupérer le monsieur qui tweet depuis ce matin devant le magasin rue Sainte à Marseille svp
— Lidl France (@lidlfrance) November 15, 2024
“Please come and pick up the man who has been tweeting since this morning outside the store on Rue Sainte in Marseille.”
One commenter on X was surprised that the billionaire was not afraid to "broadcast" his location in real-time — this could be exploited by outside malefactors. Others accused Niel of poor service and data leaks regarding the mobile operator's users.
