The online classifieds platform OLX announced an important update to its seller rating system. This decision was made following an extensive analysis of the current evaluation system, which turned out to be insufficiently objective.
“We are discontinuing the old system primarily because it gives more weight to positive reviews than negative ones. In other words, when a seller receives a positive rating, it has a more significant impact on their overall score than when they receive a negative one,” the platform stated on its website.
The transition to the new system will occur in phases:
Phase 1 (December 2, 2024):
- Termination of requests for ratings.
- Users who received rating requests before this date will still be able to leave them.
- Sellers will be able to receive ratings from existing buyers.
Phase 2 (December 9, 2024):
- Discontinuation of ranking formation.
- Closure of the ability to respond to existing rating requests.
Phase 3 (December 13, 2024):
- Deletion of all individual ratings from the "Received Ratings" tab.
- The old seller rating will still be visible in their profile and listings.
Phase 4 (December 16, 2024):
- Launch of the new rating system.
- Complete replacement of the old system.
- Preservation of the old seller ratings until March 17, 2025.
- Initiation of new ranking formations.
- Implementation of a rating system via "OLX Delivery."
The platform also reports that both sellers and buyers will have the opportunity to appeal any ratings received in either the old or new system by contacting customer service via chat and providing the necessary evidence.
