Enthusiasts consistently demonstrate that Doom can run on the most unexpected devices, and even without any. However, most game modifications simply port its gameplay and graphics with minimal changes. This port showcases Doom in a way it has never been seen before.

The YouTube channel Ancient has posted a video of the game running on a “home volumetric display.” This device projects three-dimensional images. The footage shows moving holograms appearing as if suspended in mid-air, reminiscent of scenes from "Star Wars." While such devices can be practical for visualizing design projects, three-dimensional games highlight their potential effectively.

Ancient demonstrates the gameplay on the display from various angles, featuring the classic interface at the bottom of the volumetric image. An interesting aspect is the third-person control of the game. The hologram portrays Doom from an isometric angle, giving the levels a three-dimensional appearance. This likely complicates the gameplay, as only a relatively small area around the player is visible.

Additionally, Ancient has implemented a voxel mod for Doom, which made its debut in 2022. It also participated in the newly released ray tracing mod for Doom 2.
