Sex in Baldur's Gate 3: Bear was chosen by only 30% of players, and Emperor is the leader in intimacy (Larian stats)

Over 1 million players have chosen the Emperor for their romantic escapades.

On August 3, 2023, Baldur's Gate 3—a role-playing game by Larian Studios—was released. A year later, the developers shared some statistics regarding how players have progressed through the RPG. Caution: the data may contain spoilers for those who have not yet completed the game.

The vast majority of players (93%) opted to play as a character they created themselves. Among these, 15% chose the Dark Urge. The most popular premade character was Astarion, followed by Gale and Shadowheart.

Players most commonly selected classes such as paladin, sorcerer, and warrior. In contrast, druid, ranger, and cleric were the least chosen. Regarding races, players favored elves, half-elves, and humans.

The romantic interactions in the game have also captured players' attention. They kissed their companions over 75 million times. Shadowheart took the lead in the number of kisses—27 million—while Astarion came in second with 15 million. The least amount of attention in this regard went to Mintara, with just 169,000 kisses.

In the first act of the game, 32.5% of players spent the night with Shadowheart, while 13.5% chose Karlach. Interestingly, 15.6% of players preferred solitude. Additionally, 17.6% enjoyed a romantic dinner with Karlach, and 12.8% held hands with Lae'zel. Nearly half of the players (48.8%) reached the final romantic scene with Shadowheart.

Larian Studios also disclosed some juicy details. A total of 658,000 players had intimate relations with Halsin, with him being in human form 70% of the time and in bear form 30% of the time. Furthermore, 1.1 million players opted for romantic encounters with the Emperor.

Regarding in-game achievements, 141,660 players completed the game in the "Heroism" mode. 1.8 million players betrayed the Emperor, and 3.3 million eliminated the Netherbrain, 200,000 of which did so with Gale’s help. Interestingly, 1.9 million players attempted to turn themselves into cheese.
