Xiaomi also aims to stay in line with the latest smartphone form factors. The company has patented its own smartphone that can be divided into three parts, which has led to the emergence of its first images.
Following the Huawei Mate XT, which became the first triple-fold phone, the patent application reveals a possible design for Xiaomi's foldable device that can be folded into three. However, the images appear to be more preliminary than renderings of a finished product.
The application from Xiaomi to China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) submitted on September 3 showcased a design similar to that of its main competitor. Xiaomi uses the same basic structure as the Huawei Mate XT, with a single foldable display that can be utilized in three different sizes.
The triple-fold Xiaomi smartphone may also feature a horizontal camera panel at the top, making it somewhat resemble Google Pixel smartphones. Last month, a reliable source on the Weibo social network also reported that Xiaomi is preparing a similar device.
However, it remains uncertain whether Xiaomi truly intends to launch this smartphone. Some of the company’s concepts that had patents and even physical manifestations for demonstrations have not transitioned into actual phones. Unlike Huawei, Xiaomi's smartphone could potentially make its debut in the international market. Currently, the nearest release for the company globally will be the Xiaomi 14T, scheduled forSeptember 26.
