Salesforce boss: "Microsoft Copilot is just a new Clippy that frustrates users"

The CEO of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, believes that the Copilot artificial intelligence is disappointing and fails to deliver significant value, while Microsoft has done a "disservice" to the AI industry with its release.

In the podcast Rapid Response, titled "Salesforce Can Beat Microsoft in Artificial Intelligence," Benioff predicts that once the excitement around Copilot fades, the user base will begin to dwindle until the service is relegated to the digital graveyard.

"When I see Copilot being sold to our clients, it's frustrating. It doesn't work. It tosses data back and forth, and it doesn't provide any value. Copilot is simply the new Microsoft Clippy."

The Salesforce chief points out that "his company is currently arguably the largest provider of artificial intelligence for enterprises in the world," capable of handling "a couple of trillion AI transactions per week." Recently, Salesforce introduced its own tool, Agentforce, designed for creating custom AI agents.

Microsoft began its aggressive push into artificial intelligence with investments in the developer of ChatGPT (reportedly reaching $10 billion), securing licenses to use the GPT language model in its products.

Microsoft announced its own chat bot, Copilot, in March of last year (for Microsoft 365 services), while the AI became available in beta for Windows 11 at the end of summer. In spring 2024, Copilot applications for iOS and Android were released (supporting 37 languages, including Ukrainian).
