The new online store from Amazon offers "insanely low" prices on everyday items in exchange for longer delivery times.
The service, named "Amazon Haul," provides products priced at $10-20 or less, aiming to compete with the currently popular Chinese app Temu, which is heavily advertised everywhere.
Amazon Haul is currently available only on mobile devices in beta for the USA. The product lineup includes electronics, household goods, apparel, and more. The interface resembles similar platforms and primarily focuses on affordable pricing (banners about "insanely low" prices are prominently displayed).
Amazon claims that most products will cost under $10, with some items priced as low as a dollar. However, customers will receive a 5% discount for orders over $50 and a 10% discount for orders of $75 or more. Shipping will cost $3.99 but will be free for orders exceeding $25, though delivery is expected to take two weeks (and may vary by location).
Currently, Temu is under close scrutiny from EU and US regulators due to "risks associated with counterfeit goods, illegal products, and copyright infringements on the platform." In contrast, Amazon assures that all products on Haul undergo thorough checks to ensure they are "safe, authentic, and compliant with regulations."
