The upcoming sequel to Control by Remedy Entertainment, titled Control 2, will be an action-RPG.
The developer announced the continuation of their surreal action game back in 2022, calling it an "unexpected journey." Since then, details about the game have been limited, but in August 2024, Remedy revealed that "key features" of Control 2 are already in a "playable state." The studio has now confirmed that the game will include RPG elements.
In the same announcement, the developers stated that Control Ultimate Edition will launch for Mac on February 12, and early next year, the original Control will receive a free update with previously released content.
As for Control 2, specific details are still scarce, but fans suspect that hints about the future game can be found in the DLC The Lake House for Alan Wake 2.
Additionally, Remedy is working on a spin-off of Control — FBC: Firebreak, a cooperative game for three players, scheduled for release in 2025. The game will be available on PC and consoles and will be part of Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
Meanwhile, Alan Wake 2 has surpassed 1.8 million copies sold. Remedy stated that the game is already close to recouping its development and marketing costs, just 12 months after its release.
