IGN China inadvertently published a developer diary showcasing a new feature in Assassin's Creed Shadows — the base-building system.
The building system in Shadows is reminiscent of the popular life simulator The Sims. Players will be able to place homes, decorations, and lay down pathways. According to the developers, this will introduce an element of creativity and relaxation into the intense gameplay.
Unlike previous games in the series, where players faced limited options for base development, Shadows presents a comprehensive city-building simulator. For instance, in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players developed the settlement of Ravensthorpe but were not able to make significant changes to it.
The developers describe this new feature as a way to depict the player's adventures. They state that it will allow us to "see how players create life during their adventure." They also emphasize that Assassin's Creed is not solely about combat.
The full extent of the base customization options will only be revealed upon the game's release in November. However, the developers are already calling Shadows the "most advanced" game in the series, considering the new building system and other features.
