President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced that billionaire Elon Musk and pro-Russian entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the new "Department of Government Efficiency," abbreviated as D.O.G.E. (Department of Government Efficiency) in his upcoming administration.
Ramaswamy is known for opposing Ukraine's NATO membership and advocating for territorial concessions to Moscow; he supports the idea of controlling the Mexican border with regular army forces and calls for an embargo on cooperation between American companies and China.
“Together, these two remarkable Americans will pave the way for my Administration to eliminate government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies,” Trump stated.
The appointment of Musk, who leads companies with lucrative government contracts, raises questions about potential conflicts of interest. It remains unclear how exactly the new department DOGE will operate.
Trump's plan outlines that the first task of the new agency will be to develop a strategy to eliminate all forms of fraud and unnecessary payments within six months, aiming to reduce government administration expenses, which currently amount to $6.5 trillion annually.
The federal employee union is already preparing for the possibility of mass layoffs during Trump’s second administration.
“Elon Musk and Donald Trump care about only one thing: how to line their own pockets. They are not concerned with government efficiency, and certainly not with improving the lives of ordinary Americans,” stated Everett Kelly, president of the National Federation of Federal Employees, back in September.
Meanwhile, the DOGE token reacted to the news of Musk's involvement in Trump's administration with a rapid spike. Over the past week, the cryptocurrency surged to $0.3921, marking an increase of 98.88%.
P.S. Merchandise featuring Trump, Musk, and the Dogecoin symbol (DOGE) — a Shiba Inu nicknamed Kabosu — is already being sold on the official support site for Trump.
