The studio Shift Up has announced the release of Stellar Blade on PC in 2025. The company expects the game to perform better in sales than its PS5 version.
The protagonist of Stellar Blade, Eva, has garnered attention not only from console players but also from the broader community—thus, Shift Up has every reason to anticipate financial success. However, Eva has sparked excitement and subsequently faced backlash from another segment of the community due to her overly emphasized… femininity.
“We plan to launch the game in 2025. Considering recent trends, such as the increasing share of Steam in the AAA gaming market and the global success of ‘Black Myth: Wukong,’ we expect our PC sales to surpass those on consoles.”
On PC, Stellar Blade has the potential for improved graphics and performance. The game is built on Unreal Engine 4, so it is likely to have lower requirements than those based on UE5. On the flip side, UE4 games sometimes encounter issues with shader compilation, etc., which means the game could be suboptimal at launch.
Shift Up is also looking to expand beyond South Korea with the opening of a new office in Los Angeles. In July, the company conducted an IPO worth $320 million, providing opportunities for growth. However, a lawsuit concerning the Stellar Blade brand is ongoing—the owner of StellarBlade.com has sued Shift Up and Sony for trademark infringement.
Additionally, the PlayStation blog recently reported that Stellar Blade will receive DLC inspired by “Nier: Automata” and a photo mode on November 20. Both were announced in September during the State of Play. Given the late release of the game on PC, it can be assumed that both additions will also be available next year.
