The upcoming flagship smartphone, OnePlus 13, is expected to be one of the first devices to feature the new cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Luis Li, President of OnePlus China, announced that this smartphone will be unveiled next month.
The head of OnePlus China confirmed that the OnePlus 13 will come equipped with "next-generation flagship chips." This new processor is set to deliver a significant performance boost. Early benchmark tests on engineering samples in Geekbench show an advantage of 30-35% to 46% over its predecessor. The new device achieved a refresh rate of 120 Hz while playing Genshin Impact, indicating "further performance enhancements in gaming."
Previous leaks suggested that the OnePlus 13 would feature a 2K 8T LTPO display and a 6000 mAh battery. However, the next-generation model has reportedly dropped support for wireless charging technology. This is likely due to the increased battery capacity, as the larger battery has taken up space that would typically accommodate the wireless charging system. The previous model offered 50-watt wireless charging. The camera is set to be triple-lens, with a primary 50-megapixel module.
An announcement for the new flagship chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected in mid to late October. The launch of the OnePlus 13 will take place just a few days later. It is likely that the new model will first be available for sale in China. The most probable sales start date is November 11 — Singles’ Day — when various promotions and sales commence in China. As for the release of the smartphone in international markets, that event is anticipated to occur in early 2025.
