It is expected that Samsung will release its smart ring Galaxy Ring next month. Ahead of the debut, a method of charging this device was demonstrated. To recharge the ring's battery, a case similar to the one used for charging wireless headphones will have to be used.
This information became known thanks to an image published by Ice Universe on Weibo. The image shows a small white plastic case with the embossed Samsung logo on the front and a raised middle part that holds the ring in place. Charging contacts are used to transfer energy, which were clearly visible when Samsung first showcased the Ring.
In addition, two lines are visible on the case and the ring itself, which appear to align to help users understand if the ring is positioned correctly in the case.
Notably, this resembles the solution used by RingConn, which also uses a charging case for its smart ring. For comparison, Oura uses a charging dock that operates similarly to Samsung, but using a case seems convenient for travel. It would also be good if the case had a battery so that, like headphones, the ring could be charged on the go. However, since Samsung estimates the battery life of the Galaxy Ring to be up to nine days, this charging case probably won't be needed very often.
Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Ring along with new foldable smartphones and smartwatches at the event on July 10.
