GSC Game World has officially announced the completion of work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. A new short trailer confirms the previously announced release date.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will launch on November 20 for PC and Xbox. Any new fixes will be released post-launch. Thus, the 14-year development period for the game can be considered complete.
The brief gameplay montage showcases various locations, both above and below ground. Among them are rural areas, nuclear power plants, nature, and anomalies. A notable scene features a Scythian opening a laptop, connecting a cellular modem, and uploading data.
The first announcement of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was made back in 2010. The following year, GSC was dissolved and resumed operations in 2014. The game was re-announced in 2018. It wasn't until 2021 that the game was first presented to the public with a release date of April 28, 2022. Subsequent delays pushed the date to December 2022, late 2023, early 2024, September 5, and finally November 20.
Recently, the final gameplay trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released. It highlighted weapon wear, repair, and modification, as well as realistic ballistics. GSC Game World founder Sergey Grygorovych stated that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will launch with a minimal number of bugs that they are "no longer ashamed of." Previously, the developers mentioned that they aim for the game to be as polished as possible, but they are prepared to fix issues in the first weeks after launch. It is known that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be released without hardware ray tracing, official mod support, and multiplayer features — these will be added later.
