The updated Apple Mac mini was unveiled last month, yet before its official launch and the release of the first reviews, one "drawback" was noted in the device — the power button is located on the bottom of the chassis.
Critics point out that this design will be quite inconvenient for users who will have to constantly flip the Mac mini to turn it on; however, other users argue that this is not an issue at all — since the device is unlikely to be turned off frequently, but rather put into sleep mode.
In response to the update, Apple executives Greg Joswiak and John Ternus (via wccftech) commented that the button's placement was due to the smaller chassis size, and they believe the bottom location is "ideal."
Apple's top brass also adds that despite the power button being on the bottom, it is still easily accessible: all one needs to do is "simply slide a finger" under the chassis, and there's no need to flip the device.
As a reminder, the updated Mac mini now features M4/M4 Pro chips, more compact dimensions, 16 GB of RAM in the base model, and storage options of up to 8 TB. The device includes all necessary interfaces: two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, Ethernet, HDMI, and three USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. The price for the base Mac Mini M4 remains at $599, while the version with the M4 Pro chip starts at $1399.
