The PlayStation 5 Pro launched with a high price point, but this has not hindered the sales of the premium console, according to Sony.
Sony's president, Hiroki Totoki, emphasized during the company’s financial briefing that the new gaming console is aimed at seasoned gamers. He highlighted that the target audience for this hardware consists of hardcore users.
“The target audience for this equipment is hardcore users. As for the pricing, people have expressed various opinions, but the price of PS5 Pro hasn't adversely affected sales,” Totoki noted.
The PlayStation 5 Pro became available on November 7 at a price of $700 / £700 / €800. Unlike the standard PS5, the new model is readily available at most stores. In contrast to the dramatic launch of the standard PS5 in 2020, when global chip shortages made it nearly impossible to find the console, the PS5 Pro is patiently awaiting its customers on store shelves.
Resellers who hoped to replicate the success of selling the base PS5 are now forced to sell the consoles at a loss. On British eBay, the price of the device ranges from £510 to £700.
