The company GSC Game World has unveiled new details regarding the storyline of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Caution! Spoilers ahead.
At the PAX West exhibition, where a demo of the game was showcased, fans learned about the first mission of the protagonist Skif, titled "To and Back." According to the quest description, Skif agrees to a trade with Professor Hermann. Here’s how the hero describes his task:
“It seems like a fair exchange. Hermann receives my special stone, and I gain a new home and hope for a fresh start. All I need to do is cross the perimeter and successfully activate the scanner. This know-it-all insists that this is the only way to restore the anomalous properties of my trusted artifact. I just hope this little experiment doesn't drag on for too long, regardless of the tales told about this Zone.”
Skif’s words reveal his initial intentions to quickly complete the task and begin a new life. However, judging by the quest title "To and Back" and hints about the unpredictability of the Zone, the hero's plans may undergo significant changes.
GSC Game World also released the biography of Professor Hermann on the game's official website. His career began with a graduate internship at the "Amber" facility, aimed at deterring overly curious candidates from scientific pursuits.
Despite the challenges, Hermann succeeded due to his ambition and ability to engage people in dangerous tasks. After the activation of the Brain Scorcher was disabled, he led one of the first expeditions into the Zone's central regions, managing a mobile laboratory near Jupiter.
Professor Hermann became a senior researcher at the Chernobyl Anomalous Zone Research Institute (CAZRI). However, his theory about the possibility of creating artifacts outside the Zone drove him to conduct secret experiments that neither his colleagues nor the institute's management were aware of.
We remind you that "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl," scheduled for release on November 20, will initially launch without some technical and gameplay features. At launch, the game will lack hardware ray tracing, official mod support, and multiplayer. The developers plan to add these features later.
