Hideaki Itsuno, a renowned Japanese game developer, is leaving Capcom after several decades of service and plans to create a new game at a different company.
Itsuno's career at Capcom commenced in 1994. During this time, he has been involved in the development of numerous projects. Initially, Itsuno worked as a planner on two quiz games and Street Fighter Alpha, which was released in 1995. Subsequently, he co-directed the games Star Gladiator (1996) and Rival Schools: United By Fate (1997). Later, Itsuno led the development of Devil May Cry 2 and its sequels.
Itsuno's latest project at Capcom was Dragon's Dogma 2, an open-world action RPG released this March. Within the first month of its release, the game sold over 2.5 million copies.
After departing from Capcom, Itsuno plans to dedicate himself to developing "a new game in a new environment." Although the developer has not disclosed specifics about his upcoming project, he expressed ambitious goals:
"Starting in September, I will begin working on a new game in a new environment. I hope to create fun and beautiful games that are as memorable, or even more memorable, than those I have created so far."
