At the Gamescom ONL exhibition, Funcom developers unveiled a gameplay trailer for the multiplayer game Dune: Awakening. The video showcases the player's journey from surviving in the desert to leading an entire guild in the pursuit of spice.
The game will transport players to the most dangerous planet in the universe—Arrakis. Players will have to survive in the scorching desert, avoiding gigantic sandworms and mastering the skills of the Fremen. They can expand their influence through combat, spice control, construction, and base enhancement.
Funcom is working closely with Legendary and the heirs of Frank Herbert. Dune: Awakening presents an alternative history where Paul Atreides was never born, allowing players to shape the future of Arrakis themselves.
The developers announced the third installment of Dune: Awakening Direct, set to air on August 29. It will showcase even more gameplay footage and reveal additional details about the game's features.
Dune: Awakening will launch on PC via Steam in early 2025, followed by releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
