Thanks to REDKit, the first user-generated story expansions for The Witcher 3 are emerging. The mod, Song of Wind, takes the witcher on an adventure to a mysterious island.
This past May, the official game editor REDKit was released, allowing players to create new adventures. To encourage players, CD Projekt RED organized a contest for the best such mods. The most prominent one currently available is Song of Wind, developed by RoiJean and other contributors.
The expansion sends Geralt on a quest across new territory. The mod features two missions and a well-thought-out storyline. The creators ensured that Geralt and other characters have voice lines. CD Projekt RED prohibits the use of AI tools for mimicking the actors' voices, so RoiJean compiled words and phrases from existing in-game dialogues.
Geralt begins his adventure at the port of Novigrad. The mod is designed for a level 50 character. There are only two quests in the mod since the rules of the CD Projekt RED contest stipulate that mods consist of 2-3 combined quests. However, RoiJean is likely to expand the expansion with additional content in the future.
The deadline for contest submissions is approaching, so new user-created adventures developed for it can be expected soon. In addition to Song of Wind, another interesting mod is Wine and Dine, which serves as an additional epilogue to the story of Geralt and Yennefer in Toussaint.
Submissions for the contest are accepted until October 14. The submitted projects will first be evaluated by representatives of CD Projekt RED and Yigsoft. They will then prepare a list of finalists and conduct a public vote in which the community will choose the winners.
