An online petition for the re-release of the failed shooter Concord by Sony has gathered over 1,300 signatures, surpassing the peak number of players on Steam.
Sony shut down the Concord servers just two weeks after its launch. The game, which falls under the "hero shooter" genre and was released on August 23, turned out to be a significant disappointment despite considerable investment from the company.
Immediately after the game's closure, a petition titled "We were all busy that weekend – please re-release Concord" emerged. It quickly gained traction, collecting over 1,300 signatures, which is more than the peak concurrent players of Concord on Steam — around 700 people.
However, most signatories aren't genuinely hoping for the game's return. The comments under the petition are filled with irony and trolling. People are coming up with funny excuses for why they missed the release.
One user wrote: "I waited so long for this game, but during the launch, I accidentally got diarrhea and was stuck on the toilet for two straight weeks." Another signer suggested that Sony should re-release the shooter just to close it down after yet another failure.
Despite the petition, it is unlikely that Concord will ever make a comeback. Fortunately for Sony, their other game — Astro Bot — is showing significantly better results.
