The game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 generated significant excitement on the digital platform Steam following its release on November 20. The surge of interest in the project even resulted in disruptions to internet access in Ukraine due to the simultaneous downloads of the game.
The number of concurrent players in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on Steam exceeded 113,000 within the first few hours after launch.
The game has received "very positive" reviews on Steam, with 81% of 9,267 reviews rating it positively. Players particularly appreciated the immersive atmosphere, the vastness of the game world, and the high-quality Ukrainian localization.
Users especially highlight the detail and size of the locations. "A huge, simply enormous, beautiful world. And this world is just as I imagined it when I played the first part long ago, and even more wonderful," players share their impressions.
Among the main advantages of the game, users note:
- The atmosphere and immersion into the game world
- A large open world
- Variety of weapons
- Professional localization
- Engaging quest lines
At the same time, some players express criticism regarding the game's technical state. The main complaints revolve around optimization and graphical performance, which is considered "a bit outdated for 2024." Some users note issues with character animations and the artificial intelligence of non-playable characters.
"S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is a game where you don't just survive; you negotiate with the Zone. And sometimes it agrees not to kill you," one gamer aptly describes the gameplay.
Some players point out gameplay features: "Five minutes of action, then forty minutes searching for ways to patch up a wounded soul and a broken wallet." Critics also mention the quick deterioration of weapons and a lack of variety in loot.
As of the morning after the release, the number of active players surpassed 50,000. The total audience could be significantly larger, considering the game's availability on GOG, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and the Game Pass service.
