It seems that Ubisoft has discovered a new way to leverage the Force... the Force of marketing.
Ubisoft has taken an unconventional approach to promote its new game, Star Wars Outlaws. The company invited popular YouTubers and streamers for a VIP tour of Disneyland following the first day of gameplay sessions and interviews. This move has raised concerns among fans regarding the impartiality of future game reviews.
European bloggers confirmed that, in addition to visiting Disneyland, they were also invited for a boat ride. This level of generosity from the publisher significantly exceeds the typical format of preview events, which usually consist solely of gameplay sessions and interaction with developers.

The cost of the VIP tour at Disneyland ranges from $450 to $900 per hour. Ubisoft has previously stated that the marketing budget for Star Wars Outlaws is the largest among all its games.
Previous feedback on Star Wars Outlaws has been quite negative, with players criticizing the monetization system and character models. However, following the VIP tour, bloggers began sharing significantly more positive experiences, leading to suspicions of bias.
Some content creators deny receiving money for their reviews, yet online users express doubts about the impartiality of such reviews after the lavish trip.
Despite the controversy, the developer studio Massive Entertainment remains optimistic about the project. They hope that Star Wars Outlaws will set a new standard of quality for games set in the Star Wars universe.
As a reminder, Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on August 30 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Amazon Luna, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
