The Luxeed brand, backed by Huawei and Chery, has unveiled a new all-electric SUV, the R7, which appears to be a serious rival to the Model Y. Moreover, it offers a broader range of features.
The Luxeed R7 is available in four configurations: Pro, two Max options, and Ultra. The first three variants are equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor, while the Luxeed R7 Ultra boasts a dual-motor setup. There are two battery options available: 82 kWh and 100 kWh. These provide a range of up to 667 km and 802 km according to the CLTC cycle, respectively.
This electric vehicle is built on Huawei's 800V Giant Whale platform and measures 4956 mm in length. The Luxeed R7 also features Huawei's Tuling intelligent chassis, which enables smart road recognition and optimization based on driving conditions.
Some configurations additionally offer the Qiankun ADS 3.0 driver assistance system. This includes features such as staff-assisted parking and vehicle summon functionalities.
The starting price for the Luxeed R7 is €33,290 for the Pro variant, while the Max versions are priced at €38,420 and €41,000, and the all-wheel-drive Ultra model costs €43,550. With these price points, the manufacturer incurs approximately €3,800 in losses for each unit sold. The situation could improve with increased production volumes.
