BYD has launched an updated compact plug-in hybrid crossover, the Song Pro DM-i. This model features the latest DM 5.0 hybrid system from BYD, enhancing fuel efficiency and performance.
The Song Pro DM-i showcases BYD's Dragon Face design with sleek, darkened headlights and a trapezoidal grille. The front bumper features sharp details resembling fangs, giving the crossover a more aggressive appearance. The side profile remains similar to the previous model, but the darkened window frames and newly designed five-spoke alloy wheels add a fresh touch. The rear lights now display the BYD logo across the entire width, replacing the previous "Build Your Dreams" branding.
The vehicle measures 4735 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2712 mm. The Song Pro DM-i employs BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter engine generating a maximum of 74 kW (99 hp) and an electric motor producing 120 kW (160 hp). There are two battery options available: 12.96 kWh and 18.31 kWh, offering electric ranges of 75 km and 115 km, respectively. The vehicle also supports external power output of 3.3 kW for added functionality. Fuel consumption ranges from 4.85 to 4.9 liters per 100 km in battery depletion mode, with a claimed combined range of up to 1400 km.
Inside, the Song Pro DM-i features a new amber-brown color scheme. The car is equipped with a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen integrated with the BYD DiLink system. The instrument panel also contains a digital display. The center console retains physical buttons for easy access to key functions. Optional features include power-adjustable seats (8 directions for the driver and 4 for the passenger) and a panoramic sunroof measuring 1.2 square meters.
The Song Pro DM-i supports 50W wireless phone charging, an intelligent voice interaction system, and a PM2.5 air quality control system. The cabin offers 31-color ambient lighting, a smartphone key with NFC support, and BYD's smart cloud services.
The crossover is equipped with a Level 2 DiPilot intelligent driver assistance system. Key features include Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
The updated BYD Song Pro DM-i is priced between $15,980 and $20,230, with a total of four trim levels available.
