Dongfeng has announced the launch of its new electric SUV, the M-Hero 917 Dragon Armor Edition. The vehicle features an exclusive Desert Storm Military Yellow color and a contrasting silver roof.
The Dongfeng M-Hero 917 Dragon Armor Edition boasts a unique vertical grille layout, fully enclosed wheels, military-style wide fenders, a lightweight front roll bar, and a multifunctional spare tire mount at the rear. The mount comes pre-equipped with an extension port for a flagpole and a high-mounted brake light bracket.
Additionally, the SUV is equipped with a multifunctional rear tow hitch and an integrated power outlet for an RV. The vehicle is designed to tow a trailer with a maximum weight of up to 2.5 tons, making it suitable for towing campers, motorcycles, and boats. Optional configurations include wheel covers, side tool boxes, roof platforms, auxiliary high-beam headlights, front and rear marker lights, towing openings, and electrical connectors.
The vehicle utilizes aerospace-grade carbon fiber materials, which cover key parts such as the front and rear metal bumpers, hood, and roof. Carbon fiber comprises 22.3% of the vehicle's surface. Various outdoor tools, including a fire axe, fuel tank, shovel, and fire extinguisher, are mounted on the external brackets of the SUV.
The dimensions of the new Dongfeng M-Hero 917 Dragon Armor Edition are 5052 x 2150 x 2059 mm with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. The vehicle is available in both EV (electric vehicle) and EREV (extended-range electric vehicle) versions that use an internal combustion engine to generate electricity. The standard electric vehicle has a drivetrain with four motors producing a total output of 800 kW. The range based on the CLTC cycle is up to 505 km. The EREV version is equipped with a 1.5 T range extender system with a maximum power output of 145 kW, capable of achieving a range of up to 1032 km.
The electric SUV Dongfeng M-Hero 917 Dragon Armor Edition will go on sale starting September 24, with prices ranging from $109,000 to $123,000.
