The 88-year-old Shirley Curry, popularly known as the "Skyrim Grandma," has announced her retirement from creating gaming videos. She cited a loss of interest in the process as her primary reason for this decision.
In her video message titled "No More Gaming Videos," Curry elaborated on her decision. According to her, creating gaming content has stopped being enjoyable.
"It's just not fun anymore; I’m tired of it. I'm bored to death with it," the blogger confessed.
Despite stepping back from gaming videos, Shirley plans to continue vlogging. She intends to devote her newfound free time to other interests.
"If you want to watch me play, I have plenty of videos, and they are all available," Curry noted.
Over her nine years in content creation, the "Skyrim Grandma" has uploaded hundreds of videos. Her warm personality and habit of referring to her viewers as "grandchildren" have made Shirley a beloved figure in the Skyrim community on YouTube. She currently has 1.29 million subscribers.
Curry's popularity has caught the attention of the game's developers as well. Bethesda scanned her likeness for a character model in the upcoming game The Elder Scrolls 6. Additionally, the developers included a nod to Shirley in their new game Starfield. The modding community has also paid tribute to Shirley by creating a mod that adds her as a companion in Skyrim.
