Elves, orcs, Sauron, and the rest of "The Lord of the Rings" are far away. The peaceful life simulator of hobbits, Tales of the Shire, is set to be released in spring 2025.
On Hobbit Day (September 22), publisher Private Division and developer Weta Workshop announced the release date for the life simulator Tales of the Shire. The game will launch on March 25 of next year for PC, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Netflix Games. The release was initially scheduled for this fall.
Weta Workshop has extensive experience when it comes to "The Lord of the Rings." The studio was responsible for the effects in Peter Jackson's trilogy along with its subsidiary that handled digital effects. In 2014, Weta opened a video game development division, and Tales of the Shire marks its first major game.
Tales of the Shire is a "cozy game where you play as a hobbit." It focuses on cooking and a variety of domestic mini-games. There are plenty of activities for hobbits to engage in, from fishing and foraging to gardening and home customization. Unfortunately, nothing on the Steam page indicates any multiplayer mode in the game.
