The crafting and survival game The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be available on Steam and Xbox Series X/S on August 27, offered at a reduced price for a limited time.
Developed by the indie studio Free Range Games and published by North Beach Games, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria was initially released on PC via the Epic Games Store in October 2023 and was later launched on PS5 in December of last year.
The game's release on Steam and Xbox Series X/S will be accompanied by the launch of The Golden Update, which introduces cross-play between all platforms and a new "Sandbox" mode among various other features.
The "Sandbox" mode, which was in beta on EGS, is now fully launched across all platforms. It allows players to utilize the full potential of procedural generation, creating a game environment based on a wide range of random initial values. Each playthrough has the potential for significant variations in difficulty, with layouts that are highly diverse.
New armor and weapons have also been added to the game. There are a total of 14 new types of weapons and armor, including the Wolfskin Hat, Gondor Shield, Khazad Halberd, and more. These items can only be found in Sandbox mode, but they can be carried over to the player's campaign if the dwarf is equipped with them during the transition.
“The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria tells the story of dwarves embarking on a new adventure to reclaim their legendary home, Moria, beneath the Misty Mountains,” reads the official game description.
After its release, the game will be available for just $19.99 for a limited time.
