In a recent interview, the director of "Microsoft Ukraine" Leonid Polupan talked about some features of the company's work and new products. For example, he mentioned that work is currently underway on the Ukrainian localization of Copilot.
"We are testing Copilot for M365 (Microsoft 365)," - said Leonid Polupan.
He adds that he personally tests almost all new products of the Microsoft corporation. Currently, the most active development direction is the AI services of Copilot. During the interview, a conversation was recorded for testing Copilot.
"Microsoft Copilot is a series of assistants for various purposes and various specialists. For the basic function - transcription - we are currently testing the Ukrainian language. The tool shows good results for synchronous translation. For example, a colleague gave a presentation in Ukrainian, Copilot translated the speech into English and answered questions on the topic of the presentation," - explained the director of "Microsoft Ukraine."
Leonid Polupan mentioned that the Ukrainian localization of Copilot will be released "soon," but did not specify even approximate timing. The Ukrainian language is only now appearing and starting to work well in AI tools due to the complexities of large language models. They learn depending on the content of the database. Therefore, the fastest learning occurs for those languages that are most widespread and used the most.
It is also noted that the Ukrainian team is involved in the development of Microsoft's AI products, including testing Copilot tools based on GPT4 and synchronous translation.
Currently, existing services for Ukraine are being improved. At the same time, the most active development direction is the Copilot services. Such AI assistants already exist for Word, Excel, Power BI, Teams.
In addition, Leonid Polupan shared which Microsoft solutions are the most popular in Ukraine. According to him, until 2022, the majority of projects in the Ukrainian market were aimed at digital transformation. Currently, the number of projects has significantly increased, and the focus has shifted to products such as Modern Workplace (a set of tools including Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, SharePoint, Azure, etc.), cybersecurity, cloud storage. Moreover, the data of Ukrainian companies is hosted in European data centers, reducing the risk of physical destruction. There is demand for both basic cloud services and for using the cloud for training large language models.
Furthermore, Microsoft, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, is working on a project of digital twins to help in the recovery of Ukraine.
"A digital copy of a real object, for example, a building or an entire city, helps model various situations to understand how to make it more efficient and secure. It can also be used in the concept of city planning as a whole to improve the efficiency of the city's work, traffic, consumption," - said Leonid Polupan.
