Microsoft is working on a new feature for the Edge browser that will allow users to limit the amount of RAM used. A corresponding new settings section has appeared in the browser's test builds. It contains a slider to limit Edge's access to RAM.
It seems that the new feature is mainly targeted at gamers. In Canary Edge versions, there is a setting that allows you to limit the amount of RAM during the launch of a computer game or throughout the entire time. Although the slider allows you to choose between 1 GB and 16 GB in a system with 16 GB of RAM, Microsoft warns that "setting a low limit may affect the browser's speed."
A new section on the Settings page could let you control how much RAM Edge can use, you can also choose whether this control is activated only when you are playing a game or always:https://t.co/YiCu5igL0Upic.twitter.com/pE29PI6FfR

It is not yet known when Microsoft will release this feature as it is currently only being tested in Canary versions of the Edge browser. The memory slider is also available in the browser's basic settings section, which includes an energy efficiency mode for Edge. Several years ago, Microsoft introduced an efficiency and performance mode for Edge to improve the browser's use of RAM, processor, and battery.
