Sony has unveiled its new flagship smartphone Xperia 1 VI, aimed at photography enthusiasts. Users are offered a real optical zoom, AI-supported autofocus, and a unified experience in working with applications.

Sony Xperia 1 VI features three cameras on the back panel. The main camera has a 48-megapixel sensor Sony Exmor T and a 24mm focal length lens. Additionally, there is a 12-megapixel ultrawide module (16mm) and a 12-megapixel telephoto module with a variable focal length of 85-170mm and optical image stabilization. The telephoto module provides optical zoom ranging from 3.5x to 7.1x compared to the main camera. It can also be used as a macro module. The front camera is based on a 12-megapixel sensor.

The device is equipped with AI-based autofocus technology for "evaluating a person's pose," which can recognize the body and head position of the shooting subject. The camera supports shooting 4K HDR videos at a speed of 120 frames per second, working with color profiles like S-Cinetone. Sony has also integrated various video and photo shooting functions into a single camera application, eliminating the need for users to switch between different apps.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 or 512 GB of internal storage. It also features a 5000 mAh battery, fast wired charging, and 15W wireless charging. According to the manufacturer, the battery provides 2 days of autonomous operation from a full charge and maintains its capacity properties for up to 4 years.

However, the display has been downgraded compared to its predecessor. While the Sony Xperia 1 V used a 4K display, the resolution now stands at 2220×1080 pixels. The screen diagonal is 6.5 inches. The device supports variable refresh rates ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. Nevertheless, the OLED panel provides 50% higher peak brightness than its predecessor.

The smartphone design has not undergone significant changes. The new model is available in the same three colors: black, silver, and khaki green. It also features a dedicated shutter button and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The new Sony Xperia 1 VI smartphone is already available for order in Europe and the UK at a price of €1399 and £1299, respectively.
