Typically, Apple is known for its strict (sometimes even overly meticulous) control over the apps added to its App Store. However, the review process is far from perfect. It has come to light that the app Univer Note, which outwardly appears to be a productivity solution, is in fact illegal and provides certain users access to pirated films.
Univer Note does function as a productivity application. However, if you are in countries like France or Canada, the app presents a menu in French that includes pirated movies and series. The app's description seems standard, albeit somewhat generic, but it surprisingly holds a high rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.
When journalists from Engadget downloaded and tested Univer Note, they discovered movies and series such as Agatha All Along, Breaking Bad, The Office, Deadpool, Wolverine, and many others that can be watched for free.
The content is categorized according to various streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video, Max, Paramount+, and Crunchyroll, along with several platforms only available in France. Some films had recently been released in theaters, particularly Venom: The Last Dance and Terrifier 3.
It is likely that Apple will soon remove Univer Note from the store.
