During the Ukrainian Games Festival 2024, the Lviv-based studio Hologryph and publisher tinyBuild showcased a five-minute gameplay video of the Ukrainian game SAND. To recap, SAND is a PvPvE shooter set in an open world that features "Galicians in space" in a dieselpunk style.
The events of SAND take place in an alternate version of the early 20th century, where humanity travels between stars, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire leads the charge in space exploration. Once a jewel among the extraterrestrial colonies of the Kaiser, the planet Sofia lies in ruins following an ecological disaster. Only the most audacious — or rather insane — treasure hunters traverse its deadly deserts and desolate cities. Alone or in groups, they compete with each other in search of lost riches.
The SAND gameplay video focuses on the gigantic walking machines called Trampler, as well as the possibilities for customizing them according to the player's style. With various compartments, decks, and weaponry available, SAND features a full-fledged Trampler editor that deserves attention. After all, it is from the controls of the Trampler that players will journey across the sands of planet Sofia, complete contracts for clients, and of course, battle against other treasure hunters.
The developers have yet to announce a release date for SAND. However, the game has a Steam page, and it can be added to your wishlist.
