The mysterious Nintendo gadget that surfaced in a Federal Communications Commission filing last month is not the next Switch, but rather a smart gaming alarm clock.
Nintendo Alarmo features a motion sensor that allows you to snooze the alarm with a gesture or turn it off simply by getting out of bed (physical buttons are also available).
The device offers melodies from five different games to wake you up in 35 various "audio scenes" — in addition to Super Mario and Zelda, there are sounds from Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, and Ring Fit Adventure.
It also includes sleep tracking features and modes that enable you to adjust the alarm sound to be quieter, more intense, or gradual, along with soothing sounds for falling asleep.
The alarm clock is priced at $100, and it will be available for sale in 2025 (however, Switch Online subscribers can purchase it right now).
Along with the announcement, the first reviews have emerged. For instance, The Verge's editor Chris Welch writes that the alarm clock appears somewhat smaller than it looked in the advertising and lacks a touchscreen; meanwhile, the brightness adjusts automatically based on external lighting, and the screen design will change depending on the selected alarm. Below are some photos from the review:
