George Martin commented rather strangely on the rumors of a possible adaptation of the game Elden Ring. In a post on his "Not a Blog," dedicated to the current winners of the Nebula literary award, he mentioned his own award from last year for Elden Ring.

In May 2023, the award for the game script of Elden Ring was received by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George Martin. "I created the world for this project. Everything else was done by Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team. We both were awarded trophies." However, Martin was not present at the award ceremony, and the trophy, as he says, was one and went to Japan.

It was only on June 22 of this year that the writer received his version of the trophy. He once again thanked the SFWA awards committee and From Software.

"Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a full-length movie or TV series based on ELDEN RING... I have nothing to say. Not a word, no, nothing, I know nothing, you never heard a word from me, mama, mama, mama. What rumors?"

The comment is quite strange, artful, and emotional for a simple denial. In it, George Martin seems to be playing a mini-play, saying to someone "you haven't heard a single word from me." Usually, this is how people are persuaded not to confess. However, such a comment does not contain any specific information, only fueling intrigue.

Earlier, Hidetaka Miyazaki admitted that he had thought about adapting Elden Ring. However, there seem to be no specific plans for it.

"I see no reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, for example, in the format of a movie. But I don't think that I or FromSoftware have enough knowledge and skills to produce something on a different platform. Therefore, a very strong partner will come into play here," Miyazaki said.

He also confirmed his interest in a screen adaptation of the game but did not specify whose interest he was referring to and whether he had received any specific proposals.
