The trailer for the highly anticipated game set in this universe takes players on a journey from the Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts to the pinnacle of their sporting careers, culminating in a victory at the World Cup. Players can choose to create their own characters or play as pre-generated ones, including Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Cho Chang, and Harry Potter himself. As skills and popularity grow, matches will take place in larger and more spectacular venues.
In fact, the gameplay featured in this trailer is somewhat minimal. There’s a brief overview of players chasing the Quaffle, along with a few shots of characters speeding forward on their brooms. However, when playing as characters like Potter or Krum, one can chase after the iconic Golden Snitch.
Ellie Jones from GamesRadar remarked that the gameplay reminded her of the year 2001 and "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" for PC and PS1. On one hand, it evokes a pleasant sense of nostalgia; on the other, "the technology of Quidditch hasn't changed in over 20 years."
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is set to be released on September 3, with a physical edition following in November 2024.
