The CEO of Ford, Jim Farley, mentioned on a podcast that he has been driving the Xiaomi SU7 and is very fond of it.

The Xiaomi SU7 resembles a Porsche Panamera from the outside and is priced around $30,000, with the top model costing about $42,000. Jim Farley did not specify which version he drives, but it seems he really enjoys the vehicle and its sales.

“This Xiaomi car… is fantastic. They sell ten thousand, twenty thousand a month. I don’t like to talk about competition, but we brought [the SU7] from Shanghai to Chicago, I've been driving it for half a year and I don't want to give it up.”

It's common practice among automakers to test competitor vehicles to gain a better understanding of their offerings. Rivian's CEO, RJ Scaringe, recently shared that their pickups are being scrutinized by Chinese manufacturers.

Xiaomi is best known for its smartphones and ranks second in the world in smartphone sales. Due to its rapid growth, the company was once dubbed the "Chinese Apple." However, unlike Apple, it has created its own electric vehicle — and appears to have succeeded. Nevertheless, Xiaomi mentioned in the summer that it would take time before this new business sector becomes profitable.

The SU7 is fully integrated with other Xiaomi products — home appliances, smartphones, and more. The electric car features an infotainment system with a 16.1″ screen, mirrored on smartphones, and the Xiaomi Pilot assistant for driver support. The vehicle can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, outperforming the Tesla Model 3 by 3.1 seconds, and the company claims it can cover 700 km on a single charge.

The Xiaomi SU7 sedan was unveiled in November 2023, with sales commencing in March 2024, but faced delays due to high demand.
