Information regarding the development of Hogwarts Legacy 2 and new game records has surfaced in a recent piece by Variety.
The narratives of Hogwarts Legacy 2 and the upcoming HBO series about Harry Potter will be aligned, as stated by David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
According to Haddad, Hogwarts Legacy, which launched in 2023, helped to "revitalize" the Harry Potter franchise following the disappointing Fantastic Beasts films. As of October 2024, over 30 million copies of the game have been sold.
Currently, the team behind Hogwarts Legacy 2 is collaborating with the creators of the upcoming Harry Potter series to synchronize key plot elements in both projects. "The rest of the company was very interested in what we managed to reveal thanks to Hogwarts Legacy last year," noted Haddad.
It remains unclear what this "alignment" of plots specifically entails. HBO is planning to adapt the seven original Harry Potter novels, so it is possible that the teams are simply working together to avoid repeating familiar stories. However, it is also possible that the game and series narratives could be directly linked, with new characters (or new versions of familiar heroes) transitioning between the two projects.
As a reminder, last month it was announced that Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition would be released featuring a wealth of new content.
