Some readers of ITC.ua are planning vacations around the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl in October. However, we also have February 2025, which is anomalously packed with releases, including Civilization 7.

The irony is that many publishers have moved their games to this month out of fear of competition. As a result, we now face a situation where several releases, whose audiences are likely to overlap, are set to launch in February. Not all gamers will find the time and money for them, at least not quickly.

The latest game to be postponed is Assassin's Creed Shadows. Yesterday, the game's developers announced its release on February 14, 2025. Ubisoft explained this decision by stating the need to "ensure a high-quality product before its launch," and promised free DLC for pre-order customers. The new Assassin's Creed has received quite a bit of criticism since its announcement, so there's certainly room for improvement.

Obsidian has also pushed the release of Avowed to February 18. The previously accidentally announced release date of October 12 was very close to the updated release date of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The developers explicitly stated that they want to give the game "breathing room"—well, they certainly achieved that.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has also been postponed to February 11. While competition was not mentioned, Warhorse needed additional time to refine the game. Initially, the release was planned for the end of 2024, but no specific date was provided.

The former release date can be deemed particularly unfortunate, as another major game set in ancient times—Civilization 7—will debut on the same day. No one has shifted the strategy game's launch, which was announced back in August during Gamescom 2024. Clearly, the developers at Firaxis are unperturbed by competition.

Monster Hunter Wilds has not been postponed either, with the release date announced during the PlayStation State of Play. The game is set to launch on February 28, which seems to be the most favorable date in this context.

Apart from taking a vacation, gamers should also prepare to spend a significant amount of money. Civilization 7 alone is priced at ₴2999 on Steam. In contrast, Dragon Age: The Veilguard shows no fear of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and is launching on October 31. What else might happen with it?
