The game Atomfall, which combines elements from Fallout, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and many others, has received its release date. The new trailer focuses on the wild overgrowth and the mystical side of the game.
This time, the brief trailer for Atomfall does not showcase cities, robots, military forces, or nuclear stations. Instead, the player finds themselves surrounded by the wild, untamed nature of the Casterfell Woods, alongside mystical symbols: a crucified figure covered in plants and mushrooms, a ritual bonfire, and a wooden idol. The action takes place during the day, yet the developers have managed to create a horror atmosphere. The player wanders through the thickets and spots a British red telephone booth in a picturesque desolate landscape. The phone rings...
“The new trailer for Atomfall, featuring an original folk song, showcases the influence of folk horror in the game. The UK has a rich history of folklore that traces back to ancient pagan myths. Players will see how these fantastic and captivating elements contribute to the atmosphere of Atomfall, along with classic sci-fi motifs reminiscent of 'Doctor Who', 'Quatermass Experiment', and 'Day of the Triffids'. This gives the game a unique feel that blends excitement in one moment and a chill of horror in the next,” says the Xbox blog.
Developers from Rebellion discuss the universe of this single-player survival game, which contains numerous hints and references that feel both familiar and strange. From various gameplay videos, it is evident that the game features several locations that differ greatly from one another. Clues for quests can be found through dialogues, exploration, and combat. Atomfall will include hand-to-hand combat and firearms, role-playing elements, and skill trees.
“Set in the aftermath of a nuclear catastrophe, Atomfall challenges players to uncover the mystery of what happened at the Windscale nuclear power plant. To learn more, they must visit military camps, search through abandoned underground bunkers, and risk their lives in pagan ruins.”
The British post-apocalyptic survival game Atomfall is set to release on March 27, 2025, for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Game Pass. According to the Steam page, the game will feature Denuvo protection.
