Developers from Guerrilla Games intentionally modified the appearance of the main character, Aloy, in the game Horizon Forbidden West, making her less attractive. This was reported by an insider on Twitter.
The Horizon game series gained popularity due to its stunning graphics and engaging storyline. However, fans criticized Aloy's look in the sequel—Horizon Forbidden West. Many players left negative reviews specifically regarding this aspect.
The information about the deliberate alteration of Aloy's appearance was shared by a Twitter user with the handle Mangalawyer. According to Tech4gamers, this account has a reputation as a reliable source, having previously provided accurate details about other gaming projects.
It's rare for developers to reach out as whistleblowers, but some from Guerrilla Games did after I questioned Aloy's face. A senior cinematic team member confirmed to a developer that Aloy was deliberately altered to look less pretty in Forbidden West.

According to Mangalawyer, he reached out to the developers at Guerrilla Games concerning Aloy's appearance. One of the senior members from the cinematic team confirmed that the character’s look was intentionally altered to make her less attractive in Forbidden West.
This change may have impacted the game’s sales. Horizon Zero Dawn sold nearly 25 million copies, while Forbidden West has only reached 8 million. The difference is evident on PC as well, where the player count dropped by 50%.
Currently, a remaster of the first game in the series is in development. Guerrilla Games might alter Alo's appearance once more. However, considering players’ mixed feelings about the remaster idea, further changes to the heroine’s look could negatively affect the game's reception.
It’s important to note that this information has not been officially confirmed. The developers have not yet commented on these rumors.
