Chrome for iOS: support for tab groups, syncing them with PCs, and page suggestions

Currently, tab groups in the Chrome browser can be saved on desktop systems where the user is logged into their account. However, Google will soon introduce a synchronization feature with mobile devices. In the meantime, tab groups are already available on iOS.

Google has confirmed that the ability to sync tab groups between the mobile and desktop versions of the Chrome browser will be available "soon." When a user creates and names a group in the browser on their mobile device, it will also appear in the bookmarks bar within the desktop version of the application. Additionally, Google is developing a special interface for tab groups on Android.

Tab groups have been available in Chrome for iOS since version 128. On iPhone and iPad, a user can create a group by long-pressing a tab and selecting "Add tab to new group." There is also the option to name this group and assign it a specific color. The same menu is then used to add other pages. However, currently, tabs cannot be dragged around in a grid as they can on Android.

Another new feature is suggestions for revisiting pages. Currently, "Chrome is experimenting with page suggestions for revisiting based on tabs that are open on other devices." This utilizes the existing "Continue with this tab" card on the new tab page, which already shows local tabs after you have been away.

This feature will be available on Android, iOS, and desktop systems. Google aims to eliminate the need for users to "bookmark a page or remember the exact URL" to return to it later.
