The release timeline is unclear, but Apple may potentially launch new accessory versions alongside the announcement of the M4 laptops, which is expected to happen in the coming days.
Details about the Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, and Magic Keyboard have been discovered in the iOS 18.1 code. There will likely be multiple keyboard versions—some with Touch ID and numeric keypads, and others without.
Although iOS 18.1 doesn't provide specific information about what to expect from these devices, MacRumors speculates that Apple will be replacing the Lightning port with USB-C in the accessories and will finally change the location of the port on the Magic Mouse (which was oddly situated at the bottom of the device).
We expect that Apple won't delay the release of the new Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard for long and will introduce them alongside the new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac models featuring the M4—rumored to happen as soon as October, possibly any day now.
