Xiaomi has unveiled its latest development in the electric vehicle sector — an advanced intelligent chassis, packed with cutting-edge technologies. It features an active suspension system, a configuration of 4 motors delivering a total power output of 2054 horsepower, a 48-volt electromechanical braking system, and a steer-by-wire steering system.
The development of this chassis has taken 3 years, during which advanced control algorithms were combined with modern equipment from Bosch. The active suspension system is designed to enhance comfort and improve control. Each corner of the chassis is equipped with its own power source rated at 4.6 kW, allowing for real-time adjustments to damping. This reduces body roll during turns, acceleration, and braking.
The four-motor setup provides high performance. Two existing V8 engines have been augmented with two new motors, achieving a maximum total power of 2054 horsepower. This hints that one day Xiaomi could create a vehicle that is even faster than the SU7 Ultra.
The utilization of a 48-volt electrical architecture, previously implemented by Tesla in the Cybertruck, facilitates linear control of brakes and steering. Traditional hydraulic and mechanical linkages have been replaced with software-based controls that provide adaptive steering ratios and brake force. As a result, the vehicle responds more accurately to various driving conditions.
The new chassis technology also enhances energy efficiency by lowering temperatures during braking and increasing range. It easily integrates into Xiaomi's ecosystem, connecting vehicles to a range of smart devices.
No information has been disclosed regarding which car model Xiaomi will apply the new chassis to. Considering the increased comfort, high power, and superior handling, it could be utilized to create luxurious high-end and sports electric vehicles.
