The German automaker is set to launch an updated version of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe for the 2025 lineup. The Gran Coupe model initially debuted as a four-door alternative to the standard 2 Series, which is based on BMW's front-wheel-drive platform. The 2025 sedan features a refreshed exterior design, an updated cabin with the latest technology, and enhanced powertrains that deliver greater performance.

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine has a revised combustion chamber geometry, a dual injection system, and more. It produces 241 horsepower in the 228 sDrive and xDrive variants, and 312 hp in the M235 xDrive, while both versions deliver the same torque of 400 Nm.

BMW has also replaced the eight-speed automatic transmission with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This new transmission offers the M Sport Boost function (when equipped with the M Sport package), which optimizes performance for maximum acceleration.

The 228 xDrive version can accelerate to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in 5.8 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than before. The M235 version achieves this in 4.7 seconds, a decrease of 0.1 seconds compared to the 2024 model. Although the M235 engine delivers more horsepower than before, its output torque has decreased, which accounts for the slower acceleration.

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has seen a slight increase in size compared to its predecessor. The new sedan is 18 mm longer and 25 mm taller. The width and wheelbase remain unchanged.

The M Sport styling, featuring larger air intakes under the grille, is standard across the lineup. The sculpted number 2 highlights the Hofmeister kink, while slanted LED taillights frame the rear. Standard 18-inch alloy wheels are provided, with optional 18- and 19-inch wheels available, which BMW can equip with tires of the customer's choice. The base model includes the BMW M adaptive suspension, although customers have the option of a traditional suspension at no extra cost. BMW has tuned the vehicle's suspension to enhance both handling and comfort.

Inside, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe features the BMW Curved Display system, running on BMW OS 9. The car also comes with a new gear selector, a wireless charging pad, and an standard Harman/Kardon sound system with 12 speakers. The interior boasts perforated Veganza upholstery, and newly designed sport seats with heating are standard. For the first time, front seats with a massage function are available.

The price of the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (across all three versions) has increased by $1380 compared to the previous year's model. The base version now starts at over $40,000, beginning at $40,775. Production will commence later this year at the Leipzig plant in Germany.
