Experienced mechanic Kyle Wade from the YouTube channel BoostedBoiz purchased a damaged Tesla Cybertruck and attempted to restore it. He is stunned by the complexity of repairing this vehicle — he hardly makes any progress.
“Alright, Cybertruck, if you don't start functioning properly soon, we're going to tear you apart and install a diesel engine,” Kyle remarks in one of his videos.
Wade acquired the heavily damaged Cybertruck a few weeks ago. Earlier this year, a Ford Edge collided with the vehicle at an intersection (indeed, the electric pickup proved to be less durable than when it collided with a Toyota at low speed).
The car was rendered undriveable due to numerous significant damages. The mechanic towed the vehicle to his workshop in Florida. In a fruitless 30-minute video, he details his attempts to fix the car, from replacing the battery to resetting onboard sensors — all to no avail.
The YouTuber is still eager to turn this pickup into something usable, but this journey resembles a tough battle. With all the onboard electronic equipment, specialized sensors, and other high-tech systems, attempts to repair this vehicle require enormous effort. The Cybertruck is not in widespread use yet, so most mechanics lack significant experience working with them, and there is almost no market for spare parts.
This experiment brilliantly illustrates the challenges that an average driver and even a professional mechanic might face if something goes wrong with a Cybertruck. It was once assumed that electric vehicles would be easier to repair than traditional ones, but research shows that Tesla cars break down more frequently than combustion engine vehicles.
