Fans of the Tesla Cybertruck often discuss the vehicle's reliability and security. However, a car owner who recently fell victim to theft vehemently disagrees.
A thief managed to break the "bulletproof" window of the pickup. Despite the blatant break-in and unauthorized entry, the tech-laden Cybertruck did not alert the owner about the breach in any way.
“There was no siren, no messages to my phone… literally nothing happened, I just found it like this…” — writes Cybertruck owner Anuj Takhar from Atlanta, Georgia, USA on Facebook.
He shared a video from one of the Cybertruck’s cameras, showing a red Nissan Altima stopping near the vehicle. The thief exited from the front passenger side, smashed the window, and ripped the remnants to the ground. He then climbed through the window, grabbed a backpack, climbed out, and returned to the Nissan, which promptly drove away.
The owner and commentators were outraged that the Cybertruck, which is advertised as secure with its various systems, alarms, and cameras, failed to warn them of such an obvious break-in. It is also surprising how quickly the glass could be shattered and removed in this manner. The thief's actions were very precise and swift. Andy Kalmowitz, a journalist at Jalopnik, notes: “I can confidently say that the Altima’s alarm would have gone off if the roles were reversed.”
